Rites of Passage: Week Three--Hell's Bells

Good job, recruits! You've made it to Week Three of the read-along. This week, we're diving into chapters 22-31.

I'm going to be honest for a second: It's really hard to work on these blog posts while I'm eyeball deep in revisions for THE HARDER YOU FALL. I can't even remember what happens in these chapters since I finished with Rites so long ago, so it requires me to go back, re-read, and then figure out what I'm going to say. So, while I do that, I'm going to give you this week's song, Hell's Bells, by AC/DC, a song I became very familiar with at my military school. In the book, this is the song that Sam hears with the bells that introduce her to her cadre. Close your eyes and picture hearing it with people dressed all in black yelling in your face. Go ahead. Do it. See if it doesn't freak you out a little bit!

I'll give you black sensations up and down your spine
If you're into evil you're a friend of mine.
See the white light flashing as I split the night
Cause if good's on the left, then I'm sticking to the right
I won't take no prisoners, won't spare no lives
Nobody's puttin' up a fight

I hope you enjoy getting in deeper with the Society in these chapters! At the end of this week, I'll talk a little more about secret societies and the creation of the Pandora Society. As usual, if you have questions, feel free to post them in the comments!

Peace,

Joy
